MIL-STD-398, MILITARY STANDARD: SHIELDS, OPERATIONAL FOR AMMUNITION OPERATIONS, CRITERIA FOR DESIGN OF AND TESTS FOR ACCEPTANCE (05 NOV 1976)., This standard defines the minimum criteria necessary to design an operational shield that will protect personnel and assets from thermal, pressure, and fragmentation hazards resulting from an accidental or intentional detonation of ammunition or explosives; and identifies methods for testing prototype operational shield to assess the degree to which they meet the protection criteria specified.
